The Ocean Remains Intact

The Ocean Remains Intact is a poignant reflection of the artist's journey towards grappling with her fears and uncertainties towards life after a close call with death at the age of nineteen. Diagnosed with various autoimmune disorders, she’s forced to constantly walk on eggshells, unsure of when her body will fail on her next.

Through this project, the artist reveals the unseen struggles and frustrations towards the irregularity of her life, as well as a deeper desire to take full control over it. The photobook medium becomes an extension of her life, as she uses it to represent her own story, where she desperately attempts to leap to the end of the book, but fails to do so.

She thus ultimately forgets that the beauty of life lies in its intended nature, much like a book; to be read chronologically, page by page, from start to finish.
